This is a muted-colored agateware, marbled pottery vase.
This is made using the Japanese technique known as "neriage."
Beautiful agateware, marbled patterns are created by combining clays of different colors.
This piece also has a beautiful finish and lovely diagonal lines.
The muted colors make this piece stand out, giving it a tranquil feel.
It evokes the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi.
The artist is Hiroshi.
He began his career as a potter in 1974 and established his own kiln in 1979.
He went on to win awards, but due to his extremely short career, there is little documentation available.
Because of his short career, there are very few works left.
The quality of the piece is comparable to that of famous Japanese neriage artists.
We estimate this work dates to the 1970s or 1980s.
It is in near-new condition, still stored in its box.
Includes a hand-signed Tomobako.
Size: 15cm high, 11cm wide, 610g weight
