Rare Georg Schmider Zeller Majolica Cake Service (6 pcs) – "Blue Hibiscus" & Basketweave – Jugendstil, Germany c. 1910
Discover a stunning piece of German ceramic history. This vibrant antique majolica dessert set, produced by the renowned Georg Schmider / Zeller Keramik factory, is a masterful example of early 20th-century craftsmanship.
Dating to the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) period (circa 1907–1920s), this set is defined by its breathtaking high-relief molding. The background mimics a creamy, textured basketweave ("Korbgeflecht"), which serves as the perfect canvas for the dramatic central motif: a large, hand-painted Blue Hibiscus blossom with a striking yellow center and lush green foliage.
The glaze is deep, lustrous, and intensely colorful—classic characteristics that make Zeller majolica highly collectible today. This is not just tableware; it is display-worthy ceramic art.
The Set Includes (6 Pieces):
