A unique Japanese Kokeshi, acquired from a private collector situated in a remote town close to Kagoshima in southern Japan. This white kokeshi is not made of wood, but using a complicated process called Satsumayaki. This type of art is produced in Kagoshima prefecture only. It has been made by a very talented artist named Fumiko Hayashi. Her signature is on the bottom side.
