Hirosuke Tasaki (田崎広助) Formerly named Hirotsugu Tasaki (田崎広次), Hirosuke Tasaki was a pivotal figure in 20th-century Japanese Western-style painting, known as "Tasaki’s Aso" for his iconic Mount Aso landscapes. A protégé of Hanjiro Sakamoto (坂本繁二郎) and graduate of Fukuoka Normal School (now Fukuoka University of Education), he debuted in 1926 with works like Path in the Forest (森の道) at the 13th Nikaten Exhibition (第 13 回二科展). He later worked in Paris, with pieces featured at the Salon d'Automne. Holding key roles including Japan Art Academy (日本芸術院) member and Nitten juror, he shaped postwar Japanese Western-style painting. His core themes spanned Mount Aso, Fuji, Asama and Sakurajima, with masterworks such as Early Summer at Mount Aso (初夏の阿蘇山).
