A masterpiece by Bill Brandt. A collection of 128 photographic images, of which eight are in colour, that provide an excellent overview of Brandt’s haunting documentation of 20th century British life, and his portrait photography including a selection from his highly acclaimed nudes series.
Condition: A very good copy in dust jacket. Interior clean, unmarked, no creased pages, no foxing. Outside in good condition, clean cloth hardbound cover, dustjacket complete with one small tear at the rear top and bottom.
First edition. Preface by Michel Butor. Notes on the photographs by Marjorie Beckett. Captivating black-and-white photographs, beautifully printed in heliogravure.
