古埃及 Faience Amulet - 4 cm

Superb Egyptian faience amulet, magnificent example of the artisanal production of amulets during the Third Intermediate Period (1076–723 BC) in Ancient Egypt. It represents a female triad sculpted frontally, a motif laden with religious and protective symbolism. The piece depicts three nude female figures, standing in a hieratic position, with their hands extended alongside their bodies. They are distinguished by the attributes they wear on their heads, which allow them to be identified as deities. The central figure wears a headdress reminiscent of a sun disk or a floral motif, while the figures on the sides wear various crowns that allude to their divine status. These characteristics suggest that they may represent deities associated with fertility, motherhood, and magical protection, probably linked to the triad of Isis, Nephthys, and Hathor, very common in amulets intended to guarantee regeneration and safeguard the wearer. During the Third Intermediate Period, the tradition of amulets remained very strong, with a notable proliferation of small votive pieces made of faience that accompanied the deceased in their funerary trousseaus. These objects served an apotropaic function, that is, they served to ward off evil and promote spiritual regeneration. Similar triads are found in museums such as the British Museum and the Louvre, demonstrating the popularity and widespread use of this type of iconography throughout Egypt. The object's preservation is excellent, maintaining its blue-green patina intact, although with slight incrustations of earth that attest to its age. The enhancement of the anatomical details and attributes on the head reinforces the sacred nature of the representation and makes it an object of great interest for understanding the popular religiosity of Ancient Egypt. In parallel, other Egyptian triad amulets can be mentioned, especially those linked to Isis, Nephthys, and Selkis, protective goddesses of Osiris and guardians of the deceased, whose cult was widespread throughout the pharaonique period. Acquired from a French private collection, R.M in the 80's. -The piece includes an authenticity certificate. The Seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally. Important information.
