A large bronze okimono depicting a powerful elephant, an animal that in the context of Japanese art carries symbolic and mythological meanings.
The elephant is shown in motion, with its trunk raised, a gesture traditionally interpreted as a sign of good fortune, wisdom, and prosperity.
Particular attention is given to the details of the figure, evident in the rendering of the body structure, legs, ears, eyes, and, of course, the trunk.
Signed on the underside of the base.
