"Allegory to Poetry". Very Rare Large Animal Clock, 46 cm / 18". Height of the statue of Monsieur de La Fontaine: 19 cm / 7.5". The 18th-century French writer/poet, in period dress, is depicted composing a naturalist fable. In his other hand, he holds a poem, a pencil, and his poetry notebook. At his feet are an eagle hunting a rabbit, while a salamander and a fox observe the scene.
- Mechanical movement with key and eight-day pendulum, signed by the clockmaker "LINET" Château.
