A richly decorated black and dark red Shunkei-style lacquered wooden house shrine 仏壇 (butsudan), with intricate detailing throughout.
The gilded interior is densely adorned with auspicious Buddhist and decorative motifs, including dragons, temple lions, lotus flowers, tennin (celestial beings), chrysanthemums, and various symbolic treasures. Please refer to the photos for a detailed condition reference.
The central altar is designed to hold three votive figures. It is elevated on finely decorated galleries and positioned above a compartment with glass sliding doors, decorated with floral and figural motifs. Below this are two drawers for storage.
The shrine closes with an inner set of red lacquered doors, fitted with gold mesh-backed latticework and floral openwork panels. The outer doors, finished in black and Shunkei-style lacquer, are decorated on the inside with gold-lacquered cartouches depicting scenes with arhats. These doors are fitted with decorative metal hardware, including an ornate sliding lock on the exterior.
The shrine rests on a base section incorporating discreetly concealed drawers and a hidden pull-out tray.
When purchased new in Japan, shrines of this quality are exceptionally expensive.

The butsudan is in very good condition, with signs of wear consistent with use. Some interior ornaments are missing. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
