Taftique Jules Vissers 蓝色中的解构 - 繡帷 - 150 cm - 100 cm
The tapestry collection 'Deconstruction' was started in 2022 for presentation during Milan Design Week at the Dutch pavilion Masterly. The collection is still is production and all artworks are numbered and signed by artist Jules Vissers for Atelier Taftique accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Each tapestry is a unique piece. The tapestry is mounted on a wooden base and delivered without external frame.
The textile artworks in this collection reflect the process when an organized, regular structure starts to change and develops into an irregular and chaotic state. The artworks are a kind of maze with secret and hidden colours. The longer threads keep other yarn paths almost hidden to the eye. It’s about the desire to keep a sense of order, rooted in the fear of uncertainty. A true metaphor of the times we are living in.
In her studio Taftique in Florence, Dutch artist Jules Vissers translates an old tradition into modern artworks. Here she designs and creates hand-tufted and embroidered tapestries using high-quality Italian yarns. She graduated cum laude in Art Textiles at the Florence Art Academy and won the European Textile and Craft Award 2024 of the European Textile Academy in Bolzano, Italy for her work. She participates regularly in art and design events such as Milan Design Week, Dutch Design Week and Florence Biennale. She is a member of Homo Faber, a guide to European excellence in craftsmanship. Her art pays homage to nature using only natural yarns and those derived from recycled fibers and local deadstock.
