Medieval Bronze Signet Ring – AD 1000 to 1400 – 20x19 mm – 5.02 g
This bronze signet ring features an oval bezel engraved with an early medieval inscription, most likely used to mark documents or possessions with a personal seal. The lettering, though worn, reveals the characters K H I and what appears to be I I or numerical strokes, possibly denoting initials or a cryptic code used by the wearer. The engraving style and character form suggest a dating between the 10th and 14th centuries AD.
The band is robust and slightly irregular, typical of rings forged for practical, rather than purely decorative, purposes in the Middle Ages. Its craftsmanship and legibility imply it belonged to someone of literate standing—perhaps a merchant, official, or cleric. Traces of greenish patina and minor surface encrustations are consistent with prolonged burial.
