Termanthia wine is undoubtedly one of the great wines of our country. A very limited production wine, Bodegas Numanthia makes it from pre-phylloxera vines over 120 years old, planted in the southern part of the appellation, at a very high altitude, between 700 and 850 meters. To produce this jewel of the Toro DO, the harvest is done manually, carefully selecting the bunches and berries, both in the vineyard and at the winery. The must fermented and macerated in truncated conical tanks with daily foot treading during the first week. This single-varietal Tinta de Toro underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, 80% of which were used barrels. The 2015 Termanthia red wine was aged in these barrels for 22 months. Bottled in June 2017, this reserve red wine aged in the bottle for a minimum of five years before release. This great red wine from Toro needs to be decanted at least four hours before serving.
