Ceramic vase by Masayuki Imai (1930–2012), titled “Shako (mantis shrimp) vase”.
The cylindrical form is finished in natural earthy tones, with a sculptural high-relief shako motif applied to the surface. The dynamic modelling and textured glaze create depth and shadow, characteristic of Imai’s distinctive approach to contemporary Japanese ceramic art.
