Astonishing Pre-Columbian talisman originated from the Taino culture of the Greater Antilles islands in the Caribbean Sea. Artifact was made between the X-XV century, it depicts a finely carved effigy of a Zemi -ancestral spirit and the most important deity in Taino beliefs.
* Zemis in Taino cosmology symbolized a connection between the physical world and the spiritual realm. Objects with their image were considered to be sacred and played a central role in religious rituals and ceremonial practices.
Ornament depicts a semi-circular, geometrically shaped anthropomorphic form of a deity with a beautiful natural peachy-white color of the surface. It has been carved from an animal tooth, a unique material regarded by Taino people as possessing mystical significance and protective powers, especially in times of conflict. In the upper side of the talisman there is a drilled horizontal hole so this remarkable piece of history even nowadays can be worn as a pendant.
Artifact includes a Certificate of Authenticity document (lifetime authenticity warranty) and jewelry cord for suspension!
