THE PEARL
Exclusive Matted Edition by Inna Etuvgi
Image size 20x25 cm | Total size with mat 30x40 cm.
"The Pearl" is a celebration of the rare and the authentic. Just as a pearl is formed through time, layers, and the resilience of a living organism, our individuality is shaped by our history and the courage to remain different.
The central metaphor of the work is the beauty of imperfection. The woman’s asymmetric makeup is not a flaw, but the "pearl" of her image—a subtle twist that transforms vulnerability into captivating strength. It is a tribute to those who find the power to stand out in a world of symmetry.
Created through a synergy of photography and digital tools, this portrait is part of Inna Etuvgi's exploration of Cybernetic Animism. For the artist, who lives with Aphantasia, these digital "pearls" are the only way to visualize and share the complex emotional landscapes that remain invisible in her mind’s eye.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism—a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. Raised in a remote village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, Etuvgi explores the shared "soul" of natural ecosystems and digital algorithms.
Internationally recognized as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant, her work is held in private collections worldwide. As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”
