笠间烧花瓶 — 丰富而深邃的釉彩 - 石器 - 寺本守 Teramoto Mamoru(1949– ) - 日本 - 1900–2000

Item Description: 寺本守 Teramoto Mamoru(1949– ) — Hana-ire (Flower Vase), Kasama Ware An elegant and commanding flower vase (hana-ire) in Kasama ware (Kasama-yaki), handcrafted by Teramoto Mamoru — one of the most celebrated and versatile masters of contemporary Kasama ceramics, and a full member of the Japan Kogei Association (Nihon Kōgeikai). Rising to a generous height of 30 cm with a rounded belly and gently tapering neck, this piece embodies the expressive freedom and refined craftsmanship for which Teramoto is widely admired. The surface is enveloped in a rich, subtly nuanced glaze — characteristic of his expert use of multiple kiln types and his deeply personal approach to surface treatment. Teramoto's philosophy of working without formal constraints, layering unexpected patterns and textures to achieve distinctive, individual results, is evident throughout this work. Kasama ware, produced in Ibaraki Prefecture and designated as a National Traditional Craft (Dentō-teki Kōgeihin) in 1992, is celebrated above all for its freedom of expression — there is no single "Kasama style", but rather a tradition that nurtures individual artistic voice, making each piece a direct reflection of its maker's sensibility. The piece comes with its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako) and a yellow storage cloth (kibukuro). Size Height: 30 cm Width: 19 cm Mouth diameter: 5 cm Condition The piece shows some signs of age and long-term storage; the accompanying storage box and cloth also show some soiling and wear consistent with age. Artist Profile 寺本守 Teramoto Mamoru (1949– ) was born in Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1975, he trained in etsuke (overglaze painting) under Matsumoto Saichi in Kutani, before establishing his own kiln in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, in 1976. His creative philosophy — working freely across clay types and techniques, including yakishime (unglazed stoneware), uwae (overglaze enamel), zōgan (inlay), and ginsai (silver glaze) — has earned him consistent recognition in Japan's most prestigious ceramics exhibitions, including the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition (Nihon Dentō Kōgeiten) and the Japan Ceramics Exhibition (Nihon Tōgeiten). He has received the Japan Kogei Association Prize (2010), the Ibaraki Prefecture Art Exhibition Hatazan Prize, and the Asahi Shimbun Prize at the New Works Traditional Kōgei Exhibition (2006), among other awards. He is a full member of the Japan Kogei Association and the Japan Ceramics Art Association. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation.
