Old coloured copperplate engraving showing a partial bird's-eye view of the town of Haderslev in Denmark. The view is taken from the famous city atlas ‘Civitates Orbis Terrarum’ by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg, which was published in Cologne between 1572 and 1618. This specific depiction of Haderslev appeared around 1585 together with a view of the city of Husum on the same sheet. On the right is the Renaissance castle Hansborg, which Duke Hans the Elder had built between 1557 and 1563 and which was destroyed by fire in 1627. At the top right is the city coat of arms.
