Poggione Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that boasts a tradition that originates with the Franceschi family, when they set up the viticulture activity of their lands, focusing on the Sangiovese vines at the end of the 19th century. The estate is located in an ancient Tuscan cellar, in the wonderful lands of Montalcino. The story goes that the Franceschi family became the largest producer of Brunello di Montalcino since the beginning of the early 1900s. The grapes are grown in the plots located in the enchanting Tuscan countryside, those fascinating lands that protrude on the western side of the Montalcino hills. Today the lands used by Poggione Brunello can count on six hundred hectares of total area, of which 125 are used for vineyards, 70 for olive groves, and the rest is represented by woods. The excellent work that is done in the vineyards and cellars, at an altitude between 150 and 450 meters above sea level, allows you to confer the best characteristics and aromas typical of Tuscan lands. The vines are over 50 years old and the favorable microclimate allows the growth of fine grapes, which are worked by hand in the modern cellar, restored and improved in 2004. Today the winery is equipped with the most advanced oenological technologies, but it always takes care to respect the oldest local traditions. Aging takes place exclusively in large French oak barrels, in places located five meters deep. This is the secret of "Il Poggione" wines, a wide range of wine products with unique characteristics, such as Rosso di Montalcino, Pinot Grigio, the famous Brunello di Montalcino, Moscadello di Montalcino, Sant'Antimo Riserva.
