Late Ming Dynasty Longquan Celadon Footed dish
China, 17th century
A rare island shaped footed dish from the late Ming dynasty, produced specifically for export to Japan during the early 17th century. The dish is shaped like a rugged shored island and decorated with incised mountains. The dish stands on three beast-shaped feet.
This dish was probably ordered by Japanese Zen Tea Master. Where customs orders from Japan where often made in Jingdezhen, so called Ko-Sometsuke ware, orders from the Longquan killns are much rarer and not many examples are know.
Condition (UV-checked):
Good condition. The glaze has imperfections, like crackle, color gradient, bubbles and a small baking flaws.
