British India – George V – Half Rupee – 1916 & 1936
Silver (.500)
2 coins – approx. 5.70 g each
Two authentic British India silver Half Rupees issued under King George V, Emperor of India.
The lot includes: • 1916 Half Rupee
• 1936 Half Rupee
Both coins were struck in .500 silver and weigh approximately 5.70 grams each.
The 1916 issue belongs to the earlier World War I period of British India, while the 1936 issue represents one of the final years of George V’s reign. Together, they illustrate two different phases of British colonial rule in India.
Obverse: Portrait of George V facing left with legend “GEORGE V KING EMPEROR”.
Reverse: Ornate floral design with “HALF RUPEE INDIA” and date within decorative border.
Both coins show circulation wear consistent with age but retain clear portraits and visible design elements. The decorative reverse remains attractive on both examples.
