稀有的萩焼花瓶,出自萩烧大师松野竜二之手 - 石器 - 松野龍司 Matsuno Ryuji(1951-2005) - 日本 - 1900–2000

Item Description 松野龍司 Matsuno Ryuji(1951-2005) This is an exquisite yakishime (unglazed, high-fired) flower vase (hanaire) crafted at Ryokuei Kiln (Ryokuei-gama), a distinguished Hagi ware atelier located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. The piece was created by Matsuno Ryuji, the founder of Ryokuei Kiln and a highly accomplished master of Hagi ware. Yakishime is a demanding firing technique in which the vessel is fired at high temperature without any glaze, allowing the clay itself — its natural minerals and texture — to emerge as the sole surface expression. The resulting finish exhibits a rich, earthy depth with subtle variations in tone and texture born from the kiln's flame, making each piece entirely one-of-a-kind. This tall, elegant flower vase displays the characteristic warm grey-brown hue of unglazed Hagi clay, with a naturally rugged yet refined surface texture that beautifully reflects the hand of the artist. Its slender, upright form makes it ideal for displaying a single stem or a modest arrangement of seasonal flowers. The piece comes in an unused condition and is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako). A rare opportunity to acquire a work by Matsuno Ryuji — a celebrated figure in the world of contemporary Japanese ceramics. Size Height: 29 cm Width: 9.5 cm Depth: 9.5 cm Weight 647 g Condition This piece is in unused, mint condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches; it comes with its original wooden storage box (tomobako). Artist Profile 松野龍司 Matsuno Ryuji(1951-2005)was the founder of Ryokuei Kiln (Ryokuei-gama) in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in 1951, he established the kiln in 1974 and devoted his career to creating distinctive Hagi ware that blended tradition with bold artistic vision. He was selected for the prestigious Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) five times and received numerous awards, including the Contemporary Crafts Award at the Japan Contemporary Craft Arts Exhibition (1986), the Grand Prize at the Tabe Museum Chanoyu Ceramics Exhibition (1986), and the Chairman's Prize of the Contemporary Craft Artists Association (1993). His works were collected by institutions including the Louis C. Tiffany Garden Museum, and he was a full member of the Contemporary Craft Artists Association and a director of both the Yamaguchi Nitten Association and the Hagi Ceramic Artists Association. He passed away in September 2005, leaving behind a profound legacy in Japanese ceramic art. The kiln is currently led by his son, Matsuno Sohei.
