Condition
Good condition considering age, with natural surface wear and patination. Bells and suspension elements preserved and stable.
A fine and attractive Early Medieval bronze pendant composed of several cast elements, featuring three suspended bells attached by short chains beneath a semicircular upper mount. The top ornament is decorated with radiating linear motifs emerging from a central bulb-shaped element, creating a stylised architectural or symbolic design characteristic of early European metalwork.
The three bells remain intact and retain clear decorative detailing, demonstrating skilled casting and careful finishing. Such pendants are believed to have been worn suspended from hunting or warrior belts, where the bells would have produced sound during movement. Objects of this type are often associated with status display, protection symbolism, or ritual significance, and examples are known to have been buried together with their owners as grave goods.
The piece displays a well-developed archaeological patina consistent with age, adding to its authenticity and aesthetic appeal.
