A cross visible on the wall reflects the religious atmosphere typical of Central European homes of the period. The date 1747 appears in cast relief and forms part of the original mould design. It most likely refers to the date of the original model on which this plate was based. Originally produced as a stove plate (Ofenplatte), the piece today functions as a strong decorative architectural wall element due to its detailed relief and substantial presence.
