The Romanian 2004 Mint Set is an official numismatic release by the National Bank of Romania (BNR), issued in a limited mintage of 2,000 sets. It was released just a few days before Christmas 2004 and is highly valued by collectors as it represents one of the final official sets before the July 2005 currency denomination, when "old" leu (ROL) was replaced by to the "new" leu (RON) at an exchange rate 10000:1. The set includes in the original folder: - Circulation Coins: Denominations of 1 leu, 100 lei, 500 lei, 1,000 lei, and 5,000 lei. - "Coppelia" Commemorative Silver Medal: A medal celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Bucharest National Opera House.
