Nicolas de Fer (Paris, 1646 - Paris, 1720) was a French cartographer, geographer and engraver. Inheriting the business from his father Antoine de Fer, Nicolas was a very prolific cartographer, in fact he published the 17th century between maps and atlases, appreciated more for their decorative qualities than for their geographical accuracy. Nonetheless, his reputation grew to such an extent that he became a royal geographer. Among his main works stands "Atlas Curieux où le Monde représenté dans les cartes générales et particulières du Ciel".
