A charming and unusual wooden tansu 箪笥 (cabinet of drawers). Fully restored, cleaned, and waxed. Crafted from sugi 杉 (cedar) with attractive burl wood drawer fronts. The cabinet is constructed with seven drawers and a hinged door. The brass lock plates are shaped like hearts and paired with slender warabite-shaped bail handles. The hinged door opens to a storage compartment divided by a central partition. Dimensions: Height 89.3cm, Width 78.3 cm, Depth 39.1 cm. Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912–1926) In very good, fully restored condition, with minimal traces of wear consistent with age. One lock plate cover is missing. No keys included.
