If an item exceeds the specified size or weight, it may be shipped in multiple packages. ----- Signed Sato Koichi (1929-2023) He was born on November 22, 1929, in Shinchi, Togatta (Miyagi Prefecture), as the eldest son of kokeshi craftsman Yoshia Sato. While still in elementary school in 1942, he began using the family lathe to turn wood. After graduating from Togatta Higher Elementary School in 1944, he worked in Yokohama under wartime labor mobilization, but returned home at the end of World War II in 1945. He then trained seriously in woodturning under his father. He began painting kokeshi around 1948 and continued producing traditional kokeshi throughout his life. His eldest son, Kazunari, born in 1955, began training under him in 1971 and carried on the craft. He passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 95. Set of 2 24-29cm Total 823g (H1542)

Signed Sato Koichi (1929-2023)
He was born on November 22, 1929, in Shinchi, Togatta (Miyagi Prefecture), as the eldest son of kokeshi craftsman Yoshia Sato.
