Piece features the architectural structure characteristic of Late Gothic, with a hollow body formed by small openings evoking Gothic windows and arches, allowing the smoke to escape. The upper part topped with a dome and the lower section with a pedestal complete a design typical of thuribles used in churches and monasteries in Europe during the Late Middle Ages.
The censer is suspended by five chains (four around and one upper chain that allows lifting the lid), a traditional system that allowed swinging it during the liturgical ceremony. This mechanism is typical of medieval thuribles used in Christian worship.
The piece displays an old patina consistent with its age, as well as natural wear typical of a liturgical object used over time.
Objects of this type were part of the liturgical furnishings of churches and chapels, and today they are highly appreciated by collectors of sacred art, medievalists, and museums.
