An ensemble of two cast iron tetsubin 鉄瓶 (kettles). 1. A bold cylindrical body decorated with an embossed diaper design enclosing two cartouches. One features a crane 鶴 (tsuru) flying towards a minogame 蓑亀 (mythical turtle), while the reverse is inscribed with a poem in flowing cursive calligraphy. The lid is crowned with a pine cone-shaped knob, and the loop handle is of the kushi-type 櫛 (comb-shaped). Inscribed and dated at the back Shôwa 28 昭和二十八年, anno 1953. Dimensions: Height including handle 25 cm; Width 21.5 cm; Depth 15.5 cm, Weight 2.20 kg 2. A low cylindrical body, slightly tapered, decorated with a raised arare 霰 (hailstone) pattern. The lid is fitted with a pine cone-shaped knob, and the upright loop handle is of the mokkô-type 木瓜 (melon-shaped). Signed with a two four-character name seals on the side near the spout. Dimensions: Height including handle 20 cm; Width 21 cm; Depth 18 cm, Weight 1.72 kg Period: Japan – Mid-Shôwa period (Mid-20th century) Both kettles are in a very good original condition with minimal wear consistent with age, including some interior oxidation.
