蕨類植物 - 植物化石 - Alethopteris Ionchica - 9 cm - 9 cm (沒有保留價)

This specimen represents a well-preserved fossil fern identified as Alethopteris lonchica, a characteristic seed-fern of the Late Carboniferous. The fronds are clearly defined, with elongated, lanceolate pinnules arranged in a regular and elegant pattern along the rachis, offering excellent readability of the original leaf architecture. The light golden to silvery tones contrast sharply with the dark shale matrix and are due to iron sulfide mineral growth along the plant tissues during burial and diagenesis. This mineralization enhances the visual definition of the fronds while retaining fine morphological details. Alethopteris lonchica is typical of the coal-forming swamp forests that covered large parts of present-day Europe around 310–300 million years ago, in a warm, humid, equatorial climate. Although fern-like in appearance, Alethopteris belongs to the pteridosperms (seed ferns)—an extinct group of early seed plants that played a major role in Carboniferous ecosystems. German localities are particularly renowned for producing aesthetically strong and scientifically classic examples of Carboniferous plant fossils, often collected from shale associated with coal measures.
