Oribe釉日本酒套装 — Tokkuri 与 Two Ochoko,附原箱 - 陶瓷 - 曽根芳之 Sone Yoshiyuki - 日本 - 1900–2000

Item Description: 曽根芳之 Sone Yoshiyuki — Oribe-ware Tokkuri (Sake Bottle) and Ochoko (Sake Cup) Set, Hōzan-gama A refined set of sake vessels in the celebrated Oribe tradition, crafted by Sone Yoshiyuki of Hōzan-gama. The set comprises one tokkuri (sake bottle) and two ochoko (sake cups), all presented in their original wooden box (tomobako) with accompanying cloth (tomobuno). The pieces display the characteristic aesthetic of Oribe ware — the vivid copper-green glaze flowing organically over an earthenware body, paired with bold iron-underglaze brushwork in the expressive, asymmetric spirit that has defined this Mino tradition since the Momoyama period. The tokkuri features a graceful, slightly tapering form with a narrow neck, while the two ochoko echo the same glaze palette and decorative motifs, creating a beautifully unified set for the appreciation of sake in the Japanese tradition. Oribe ware originates from the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture and takes its name from the great tea master and warlord Furuta Oribe (1544–1615), whose bold aesthetic vision transformed Japanese ceramic arts. The tradition of crafting sake and tea utensils in this style endures among skilled contemporary potters in the Mino area. This complete set — bottle, two cups, original box and cloth — is a handsome addition to any collection of Japanese functional ceramics. Size Tokkuri (Sake Bottle) Height: 21 cm Width: 8.5 cm Depth: 8.5 cm Ochoko (Sake Cup) Height: 5 cm Width: 7 cm Depth: 7 cm Weight 890 g (total, all three pieces) Condition The set is in good overall condition with only minor superficial marks consistent with age and careful use; no chips, cracks, or significant damage are present. Artist Profile 曽根芳之 Sone Yoshiyuki — Hōzan-gama Sone Yoshiyuki is a contemporary Japanese ceramist working in the Oribe tradition at his kiln, Hōzan-gama. Continuing the expressive legacy of Mino ware — one of Japan's most celebrated ceramic traditions — he produces sake vessels, tea utensils, and decorative wares distinguished by their bold Oribe green glaze, confident brushwork, and a strong sense of hand-crafted vitality.
