Although there is still scientific debate regarding the exact function of this unusual structure, it is generally believed that it may have served a sensory purpose, been used to stir sediment while searching for food, or possibly played a role in behavioral display.

The specimen exhibits excellent shell detail, including clearly visible eye facets and fine surface ornamentation. Several small thoracic spines have been carefully prepared in full relief, individually freed from the surrounding matrix. The preparation was carried out using air abrasive tools and required many hours of meticulous work by a highly skilled preparator, a process that significantly enhances both the aesthetic and collectible value of the piece. There is no significant restoration.
