I'm offering here a beautiful set of 3 sculptural porcelain vase from the “Pollo” series designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal, part of the renowned Rosenthal Studio-Line collection. The design dates to around 1970–1971 and reflects the refined aesthetics of Scandinavian Modern / Mid-Century design. The vases feature an organic, bird-like silhouette (the name “Pollo” refers to a chicken), with a narrow opening and a distinctive relief decoration of dotted lines radiating from the neck, giving the surface a subtle texture and visual movement. Tapio Wirkkala, one of the most influential Finnish designers of the 20th century, was known for combining minimalist Nordic design with experimental forms inspired by nature. His collaboration with Rosenthal introduced Scandinavian design language into German porcelain production and resulted in several iconic Studio-Line objects that are now considered modern design classics.
