A fine collection of gravegifts from the Pays Dogon in Mali. These items were given to the deceased in the funerary caves of this region, The large box may have contained foodstuffs for the afterlife. Large crack on the bottem, due to it`s ancient age. Lenght; 50 cm. The black small staff is 30 cm tall. The small ceremonial "Ladder" is 27 cm long. Finally a beautifully decorated baton is presented. All iems heve a nice thick patina; a result of their long storage in caves. Early Dogon or even possibly from the previous Tellem period. ( 16th-17th Cent.) Collected in the village of Jajé in the late 1990`s. and from a private Dutch collection.
