This sophisticated "Suname" (sand-textured) Sake bottle (Tokkuri) is a masterpiece of Wabi-sabi aesthetic, crafted by the highly acclaimed Tokoname-ware master Yoshiaki Kato (b. 1934).
Kato is a distinguished artist whose work has gained significant international recognition. Most notably, he was awarded the International Honorary Grand Prize at the Vallauris International Ceramics Biennale in France (1972) and a Silver Prize at the same biennale in 1978.
