Extraordinary N'Domo mask with a highly realistic and spiritual face, partially covered with copper plates fixed with resin and with seven horns also ringed with copper. The seven braids represent the seven twins of Noun Fayiri; each one also symbolizes this “antenna,” this tactile sense that allows young children to discover and assimilate everything through play, in other words, with ease and self-confidence. According to several traditionalists, the Soninké origin of the mask is beyond doubt. Among the Marka-Soninké, the mask is covered with finely chiseled beaten metal plates.
