A Japanese iron tsuba of round form with openwork decoration. The plate has two larger apertures and several smaller openwork elements around the rim, with traces of gold-colored decoration remaining on the surface. A wooden storage box and cloth pouch are included; however, the box appears to be of modern manufacture and is not original to the tsuba. The exact period of manufacture is uncertain, and the piece is therefore offered conservatively as a Japanese tsuba of uncertain period.
