Suiseki is a Japanese cultural practice and hobby of appreciating stones indoors. Natural stones are placed on a base or in a water basin and surrounded by sand.
The name "Suiseki" (水石) comes from the fact that when water is poured over the stone in the basin, its color deepens, making it appear more beautiful. It is also said to be an abbreviation of "Sansui-seki" (山水石) or "Sansui-kei-seki" (山水景石). These stones were highly valued as decorations for tea rooms during the aristocratic and samurai periods of Japan, and were prized for their ability to evoke landscapes. Since many decorative stones used before the Meiji era were landscape stones, this particular suiseki can truly be considered a beautiful masterpiece.
Dimensions: 9.5cm x 13.5cm x 10cm
Total weight: 1580g
