Melissa Broadwell - Seahorse Symphony Universal Connection

Seahorse Symphony – Universal Connection This painting is my personal response after studying the work of Jackson Pollock and reflecting on how energy can move through paint. Rather than imitating his technique, I allowed my own natural process to guide the movement. I used brush work only. As the layers developed, the brushstrokes began forming rhythmic arcs and spirals that seem to pulse outward through the canvas. Thick passages of paint create moments of texture while lighter strokes weave between them, giving the surface a feeling of motion and depth. Within this movement, a seahorse-like form gradually revealed itself to me, rising through the surrounding color. The composition moves like a visual symphony, with lines of color bending, looping, and intersecting as if responding to an unseen current. To me the seahorse represents delicate strength and the intelligence of nature. The painting feels like a meeting point between the organic patterns of life and the larger universal energy that connects everything. Oil on canvas 18 × 24 inches Signed on the back Sides painted black Varnished for protection and depth of color Certificate of Authenticity included The painting will be carefully rolled and shipped in a protective tube. The framed photo shown in the listing is for display purposes only. Colors may vary slightly from what appears in the images. When I paint I connect to the universe. I feel that there is more and that everything is connected. To me it feels like art was given to all of us as a tool to survive. We all have something that was given to us to help each other. Art does set people free. I spent most of my life in roles of service helping other people. I was drawn to the arts but I had never created art. One day in 2021 my loving engineer husband had a hunch from me experimenting on a new digital program. He dispatched art supplies to our home. He asked me to please try to paint. We are both high functioning autistic. When I held the brushes I cried. They felt like I had used them many times before. I just connect to the universe and feel and just paint. I follow the flow I feel. To me it feels like there is more meaning. I seem to feel the spiritual world bleeding through and mixing with the physical. I try to paint glimmers of hope and let the art show itself to me and form. I highlight what it shows me. I feel so much about time and existence, or at least that is what I think of as I'm painting. Glimmers of hope in this life that to me makes no logical sense. More about Melissa Broadwell Melissa Broadwell creates abstract expressionist paintings that emerge directly from the flow of energy, perception, and feeling. Her work explores interconnectedness, inner transformation, and the unseen forces that shape life, capturing vibrant color, layered texture, and subtle movement that shifts under light. Rooted in her unique perception and deeply personal process, each painting exists as a living environment of emotion and energy, inviting viewers to feel before they analyze. Broadwell’s art is not about decoration—it is a meditation, a burst of presence, and a space where energy and consciousness converge. It will rise to the forefront at the exhibition with its own exceptional energy.” Critical Quote Arthur Milton Robins commented on Broadwell’s painting process: “The reason your art is good is because you bypassed the mental gymnastics and over-education most artists go through, so you are free to connect to the universal creative spirit in a free way.” 2025 – Chosen artist for Gallery34 in Africa Noise exhibition 2024 – Night of the Arts (Taiteiden Yö), Helsinki, Finland Participating artist featured in the city-wide cultural arts celebration.
