A very unusual fan, ca 1870
The silk leaf is 'framed' in the elaborate monture.
On the front handpainted with a magnificent arrangement of roses and forget me nots, very skillfully done.
A monture of bone, so finely carved and pierced it almost looks like lace.
Note that the monture has suffered during course of time, with old repairs and other damages.
The leaf is in an excellent state.
