Beautiful set of six English ironstone plates produced by British Anchor Pottery Co. Ltd., Staffordshire, England, in the classic Olde Country Castles pattern. This decorative blue transferware design depicts a romantic English castle landscape with pastoral scenery, fisherman and cattle, framed by an ornate floral border. The pattern is inspired by traditional 18th–19th century English tableware designs. Backstamp reads: “Olde Country Castles – British Anchor – England – Est 1864 – Ironstone” Based on the backstamp style and production characteristics, this set dates to circa 1970–1980.
