A nice wooden ishô'dansu 衣装箪笥 (cabinet of drawers) in two sections. Restored, cleaned, and waxed in Japan. The frame of the cabinet crafted from indigenous sugi (cedar) wood lacquered in a dark red hue, whereas the front panels thickly veneered with precious keyaki (Zelkova – ‘Japanese oak’), showcasing a beautiful reddish-orange with a silky gleam. The upper section features three, and the lower section two full-width drawers. Placed on a separate plinth. Fitted with sturdy iron 'gunbai'-shaped bail handles, paired with circular lock plates with raised chrysanthemum knobs. The sides are equipped with ‘warabite’-shaped carrying-handles (totte) for easy transport. Period: Japan – Mid-Shôwa period (Mid-20th century) Dimensions: Height 128.5 cm (T 65 cm, B 56.5 cm, bottom frame 7 cm), Width 87 cm, Depth 42 cm It is in very good condition with traces consistent with age and normal use, mainly on the sides.
