花瓶 - 陶瓷 - 日本 - 正宗的备前烧陶器 (沒有保留價)

This elegant Bizen ware flower vase was created by the Japanese ceramic artist Fumio Mitsuke (見附文雄) and comes with its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako). Bizen ware is one of Japan’s oldest and most highly respected ceramic traditions, known for its natural beauty, earthy textures, and the absence of applied glaze. The vase features a beautifully balanced form with a gently rounded body and a slender elongated neck that flares subtly at the rim. This elegant silhouette makes it especially suitable as a flower vessel, perfectly complementing seasonal branches or simple floral arrangements in the Japanese ikebana style. One of the most distinctive characteristics of this piece is its richly textured surface created during the high-temperature wood firing process typical of Bizen pottery. The clay body displays subtle variations of warm reddish-brown, soft gray, and earthy tones formed naturally by ash deposits and flame effects inside the kiln. These natural markings, often referred to as “yōhen” (kiln transformation), make each Bizen piece unique. Unlike glazed ceramics, Bizen ware relies entirely on the interaction between clay, fire, and ash during the firing process, which can reach temperatures exceeding 1200°C. The resulting surface expresses the Japanese aesthetic concepts of wabi-sabi, appreciating natural imperfection, quiet beauty, and the passage of time. The base bears the artist’s carved signature, and the vase is accompanied by its original wooden tomobako, which is inscribed with the artist’s name and seal. Such original storage boxes are traditionally provided for important ceramic works in Japan and enhance both authenticity and collectible value. With its refined form, natural kiln-fired textures, and deep connection to centuries of Japanese ceramic tradition, this Bizen vase is both a beautiful decorative object and a fine example of contemporary traditional craftsmanship. The piece is estimated to date from the late Shōwa period to early Heisei period (昭和後期〜平成初期 / circa 1980–2000). Please note that the Coca-Cola can shown in the photographs is for size reference only and is not included in the lot. Artist Profile: Fumio Mitsuke (見附文雄) is a Japanese ceramic artist associated with the long-standing tradition of Bizen ware, produced in Okayama Prefecture. Bizen is recognized as one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan (Rokkoyō) and has been continuously produced for more than one thousand years. Mitsuke studied the techniques and philosophy of Bizen pottery under master craftsmen in the region and dedicated his work to exploring the expressive possibilities of unglazed clay fired in traditional wood kilns. His works emphasize natural kiln effects, subtle color transitions, and the quiet elegance characteristic of Bizen ceramics. Through exhibitions and gallery presentations, his pieces have been appreciated by collectors who value the authenticity and timeless aesthetic of traditional Japanese pottery. Size Vase: Approx.
