An amazing mid-sized two-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) decorated with a variety of sensu 扇子 (folding fans) scattered across a flowing stream. The fans are depicted in various positions, some fully opened, others partially opened or closed. Executed in dark silver tones on a golden silk ground. The screen is set within a black lacquered wooden frame. Period: Japan – Mid-Shôwa period (mid-20th century) Dimensions: Total width 139.2 cm (2 × 69.6 cm), Height 152.4 cm In good restored condition, with traces of wear consistent with age on both sides, including a restoration in the lower left corner and two gold leaf patches along the upper section.
