Hiroshi Seto (1941-1994) - 盤子 (6) - 红色的马栗树叶在光泽的银叶上, 陶瓷
This set of six beautiful plates features red horse chestnut leaves on a lustrous silver background.
The horse chestnut leaves change color in autumn, and each one has a different expression.
Just like natural leaves.
This style, which expresses the melancholy of the leaves before they fall, evokes the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi.
Hiroshi Seto (1941-1994)
Studied under a renowned ceramic artist and opened his kiln at the age of 24.
After living in the United States in the 1970s, he returned to Japan and established a style characterized by vibrant, primary-colored stripes.
The use of ash glaze gives the plates a glassy texture.
A major feature and appeal of ash glaze is that the expression changes and deepens with use.
This piece dates to 1981.
It has been carefully stored in its box.
As a result, it appears unused and in mint condition.
It makes a great gift.
All six plates have a warped box lid.
I've added a weight to the lid to improve the condition, but don't expect too much.
