Chawan - Hasegen Kiln 的 Keitō - 陶瓷 - 织部烧茶碗

This is a beautiful Oribe ware tea bowl (Chawan) decorated with expressive figure painting, created by Keitō of Hasegen Kiln, a kiln associated with the traditional pottery region of Akazu in Seto, Japan. The bowl is accompanied by its original wooden box (tomobako) and documentation. The surface of the bowl features charming hand-painted figures rendered in soft brown iron pigment. The relaxed brushwork gives the figures a lively and narrative quality reminiscent of traditional Japanese ink paintings. Surrounding the imagery, the bowl displays the distinctive aesthetic of Oribe pottery, characterized by its natural crackle glaze and flowing green copper glaze that drips organically over the rim and body. The interior reveals a warm cream glaze with delicate crazing, a texture that develops beautifully with age and use in the tea ceremony. The contrast between the creamy glaze, earthy clay body, and bold green glaze creates the dynamic and slightly asymmetrical beauty that Oribe ware is famous for. This piece embodies the philosophy of wabi-sabi, celebrating imperfection, spontaneity, and natural expression. The slightly irregular form, painterly decoration, and flowing glaze make each viewing angle unique. It is both a functional tea utensil and an artistic ceramic object appreciated by collectors of Japanese ceramics and tea ceremony utensils. The tea bowl is stored in its signed wooden box and accompanied by a leaflet describing the history of the kiln lineage. Note: The styled interior photograph is for display purposes only and is intended to illustrate how the Tea Bowl may be presented. This auction lot includes the Tea Bowl only. Artist / Kiln Profile Keitō (景陶) is a ceramic artist associated with Hasegen Kiln (長谷元窯), a kiln rooted in the historic pottery center of Akazu, Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
