Condition and information:
One of the most beautiful Pelikan pens ever made, the M60/60 rolled gold pen. This is the original type 1 model, made only for several years from 1965 till 1970, after which the type II was made which had a flat face nib. The pen simply shines as it's all gold covered, photos cannot capture it and don't do it justice. This is the much rarer piston filling version model, as opposed to the same pen that used cartridges. The pen was the Pelikan flagship of the 60s M line. When originally sold in 1965 it was 5 times the cost of the base M model, and it cost approximately 60 DM (Deutsche Marks), roghtly $150 US today, which was a considerable cost in that time. Stunning pen with extraordinary build quality. The pen features the newly developed piston filling system, which together with the complex feed system and cap, prevented accidental ink leaks, and was marketed as an "Airplane Safe Fountain Pen". The piston fills smoothly and the knob operates perfectly. These are one of the most reliable and elegant Pelikan pens, extremely well built, meant to last and endure hard work for generations. Beautiful clear see through purple ink window for ink level readout. The nib is very nice 14K solid gold, with nice flexibility so it will write wider lines if pressed gently while writing. The rolled gold will prevent rust and oxidation and it will always stay as new and shiny. Pelikan logo located on top of the cap. The pen comes in mint condition with minimal signs of use, a perfectly preserved pen and fully serviced and tested. A stunning Pelikan pen with a piece of history, and a superb quality and reliable fountain pen.
