The layered, sculpted ripples spread across the entire surface of the bowl, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. As light passes through the glass, the pattern shifts beautifully depending on the angle, giving the piece a dynamic and almost liquid sense of movement. The rim is hand-finished with an irregular, wavy edge, enhancing the organic character of the form. With its strong presence and refined texture, this bowl can be enjoyed both as a functional vessel and as a sculptural centrepiece. Sakata Jinnai is a distinguished contemporary Japanese artist. After studying under Kamoda Shoji in 1964, he established his kiln in Mashiko in 1966 and gained renown for his innovative black pottery. Since 1971, he has held numerous solo exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including at Takashimaya, Seibu, Green Gallery, New York (1994), Shanghai (2009), and the Xi’an World Horticultural Expo (2011). His artistic scope later expanded into washi paper (1995), glass (2000), LED lighting (2003), hyper-powered drawing (2006), and bonsai pots (2007). In 2013–2014, he dedicated works to Izumo Taisha, Ise Jingu, and Atsuta Jingu. His creations frequently explore cosmic and natural motifs, and are featured in publications such as MOKU and Harmony.
