Typical late 16th century pewter spoon with Tudor Rose in the bowl, initials A E in the crown of the rose. Large round bowl with hexagonal stem.
-> The Tudor Rose was introduced after Henry VII’s victory in 1485 (the union of the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York, via his marriage to Elizabeth of York. It remained a symbol throughout the Tudor dynasty (Henry VII to Elizabeth I), roughly 1485–1603.
