Mackmyra’s NONI Rök Oloroso Peated is one of three whiskies in the Galaxy series. This malt, of which only 48 bottles were bottled, pays homage to the constellation Virgo and was aged in a second-fill sherry cask numbered 7113. The malt is neither chill-filtered nor colored. Mackmyra, once Sweden’s most significant whiskey distillery, was founded in 1998 and was located in the city of Gävle, 170 km north of Stockholm. Only local ingredients were used in its production. The Swedish distillery Mackmyra filed for bankruptcy in August 2024, primarily due to ongoing profitability and liquidity issues. Despite its innovative spirit and a 25-year history, the company no longer had sufficient financial resources to continue operations following critical situations in the previous year.
